If the channel is broadcast in 5.1 it comes out of the unit in 5.1 if you have DD turned on. If the channel is only broadcast in 2.0 it only comes out as a 2.0 signal.cstilhouston said:

Sorry if this is a dump question. Have searched Google for days and can't find the answer.
Thanks!
I understand all that. I guess to clarify my question, are any channels broadcast in PCM 5.0 and if so, is the HR24 capable of putting that out to an AVR via HDMI or does PCM 5.0 require too much bandwidth?RunnerFL said:If the channel is broadcast in 5.1 it comes out of the unit in 5.1 if you have DD turned on. There is no 5.0, it's 5.1. Most, if not all by now, of the movie channels (HBO, Showtime, Starz, etc) are broadcast in 5.1 DD. Some local shows are as well. I believe Hawaii 5-0 is one as are quite a few of the other primetime dramas.cstilhouston said:I understand all that. From what I am reading, it appears that only Blurays are capable of PCM 5.0, but wanted to confirm before I decide whether to upgrade to an HDMI capable AVR.
Yes, this is PCM 2.0 or DD 5.1.cstilhouston said:Is this only 2.0? Do bandwith restrictions prevent multichannel 5.0?
