Can you use an HR-24 with older slim line style dish? If not what are my options? Can I add a SWiM module or does it make more sense to replace the whole dish with a built in SWiM module?

Yes you can. You will need B-Band Converter (BBC) modules on each SAT INPUT if you want HD channels.

You can add the B-Band Converters, but you might want to change to a SWIM setup...If you have an AU9 antenna you can get either a SLS3 (99,101&103) or SLS5 (99,101,103,110&119) LNB, Power supply and Splitter from places like EBAY, Solid Signal etc. Then you will not need to add the B-Bands. This will be especially helpful if in the future, you intend to add additional set top boxes.

SWM on the LNB wont work if you still have that Philips DirecTiVo. That has to go through a legacy port.
