I've read aver 20 threads, and my head is spinning. Thank you in advance for the help.

I have an HR34 and HR21. The HR34 (family room) is wired to the wireless modem/router using an Ethernet cable. I'd like to be able to get my HR21 (master bedroom) into the home network to take advantage of the whole-home feature and Internet functionality (Pandora,VOD, etc). I'm in a multi-dwelling townhome complex (I don't have my own SWM dish - its shared).

HR34 seems to function perfectly with VOD (although a little slow in menus/guide). I've just ordered a self-install CCK from Directv ($25). Do I need this, or can the HR34 provide Internet/HHV connectivity to my HR21 over existing coax (one coax line/outlet each in family room and master bed)? And does that become difficult not having my very own dish?

I'd appreciate any suggestions on configuration!

Thank you again for the help.

You do not need the CCK, you need a Deca for the HR21 and they will be connected.

Depending on how the setup is done you may want to have bandstop filter to keep your neighbors isolated.

Sounds like a good question for vos.
Yeah, if you are sharing the dish, then you will want a BSF installed between the first splitter that comes into your house and the dish. That will keep your shows from showing up on your neighbors' receivers.

As stated, you will need a DECA for the HR21 and you might also need to have Whole Home turned on for your account.

what kind of SWiM do you have? -8, -16, -32? How is it shared with the neighbors?
I'm not certain about this. One dish above the clubhouse, and the entire neighborhood shares it. Switches (?) on the sides of each building (4-5 units ea) that allow 16 (I believe) lines to share. The tech allocates how many lines into each home.

It's all very interesting. In the 12 years with Directv, this is the first time I've not had my own dish. This side of it is all new to me.

Whole-home turned on. Thank you for the specifics on the BSF. That's very simple.

I can just pick one of these up online? Along with the DECA? They're all the same?
