I just had my HMC and a hd reciever installed the tech told me my dsl modem and router were to old for the kit to work. the router is a few years old but the DSL is new now I want to be able to to do VOD on bothe recievers do I need the connection kit to make that happen? The contractor is going to send there "lead tech" out on wednesday to do it I truly just think this guy had no idea how to make this happen cause when we mentioned it he look surprised maybe didnt even have the hardware need to get this to go. I would just rather these guys come back out with there "lead tech"

The HR34 can work as a bridge between the DECA network and your home network when an Ethernet cable is plugged in. Basically, on the other receivers, if you plug in an Ethernet cable the receiver's internal DECA deactivates. In the HR34, the internal DECA and Ethernet work at the same time.

IOW, you'll be fine. :)

If/when you plug in the ethernet, the other receivers will need to change their IP addresses to those the router assigns.
This may have been the cause of the message.
A simple reboot of the receivers should sync all the IP addresses, or re-running the network setup.

My guess is the installer was usign a wireless CCK, and the OPs router doesn't have WPS so the installer didn't know what to do to get them to connect over WiFi.

Jeremyd29, did they leave the cinema connect kit there, or take it with them? If they left it there we can probably help you get it up and running on your own if you can tell us which one it is, etc. How many coax ports are on the back, one or two?
