HR34 DVR/Non RVU TV's??

If I dont have any RVU tv's can i still use an HR34 on my living room Panny HDTV and keep my HR20-700 in my bedroom on my other Panny HDTV? And use the HR20-700 in the bedroom to connect to the HR34? If so can i still also use hardwired ethernet cables for whole home dvr that i already have setup on my 2 hr20's or does an HR34 require DECA?

Or is an RVU tv a must in any setup situation?

Or if I just want to use the HR34 on one tv does that tv still have to have RVU?

Just wondering b/c i've read various things/info all over the internet.

You don't need any RVU's setup.

You can just use your HR34 by itself on any tv, just like any other receiver.
Ok if i put the HR34 in my living room..... can i also/still use my hr20-700 in the bedroom to connect to the HR34 for whole home dvr? Via hardwired ethernet router ......non deca?
Yes the HR34 works with Whole Home DVR just like any HR2x or H2x model. It can work over ethernet or DECA.

However, you have to have SWM with the HR34, so you might as well use DECA. The installer will most likely hook up your HR20 with a DECA adapter when he installs the HR34.
Yah i mean i need a repair (slight alignment) on my dish anyways i might as well have them install all the latest equipment.

I know with SWM i will only need 1 in each ..................but can the installer hookup all 4 lines to the SWM that i already have run and then i just use the one in each room and have a 2nd lines (that's already installed anways) in both rooms there not hooked in for a backup? I mean how many lines total can you hookup to a SWM?

The limit is on the number of tuners (8/16/32), not the number of lines. When I switched to SWM I used the other lines for OTA.
So then I have 4 lines total ....2 running into the bedroom and 2 running into my bedroom for my HR20's. I could have the installer put in a SWM and while i only need to put in one line in for each DVR i could still have him put all 4 lines on the SWM so i can have "back-up" lines for each room right?

Anyone get any good deals on the HR34? I've been a DTV customer for 14yrs now and i havent gotten or even asked for a deal since 2007 maybe they'll make me an offer of some kind b/c i know the 34 is expensive

For any type of deal, you will probably have to go through retention, as I have not seen very many, if any get any type of deals at all from a standard CSR.
Oh yah i've talked to rentention in the past they have always been very generous with me. When i upgraded to the Slimline 5 dish back in 2007 back then i had the 3lnb dish with one HD Tivo.

They gave me the slimline dish, install, added 2 lines for my bedroom.... and 2 HR20's all for 99 bucks plus of course a 2 yr service agreement. Thought i did pretty well with that deal.
The installer will not supply you with extra runs of coax for future/backup use, at least not for free. If you offer to pay him for it he may do so, but don't expect it. Also with only 7 tuners on the account you will most likely end up with a SWM LNB and a splitter, not a SWM8 or SWM16.
