hi folks,

I've been having problems with scheduling recordings from the DTV iPhone app not actually setting the recording to my HR34. Never ever had a problem with remote recordings on my previous HR21-700.

I get the Confirmation/Successful screen from the iphone app but i don't see the recording appear in the To Do list on the HR34. I also notice that I don't get the confirmation emails anymore that I used to get (to confirm that a show will be recorded).

It seemed to work right after I restart the receiver. I will set something currently playing on TV to record via the iphone, and I see the record light turn on the HR34 a few seconds later, but then any further attempted remote recordings initiated from the iphone app stops working after say 15 minutes from the receiver restart.

any thoughts on what may be going on or what I can try to rectify it (if it's somehow on my end)? I've already restarted the receiver a few times (via the menu, and via the red button).

Turn Genie reccomends off and see if it works.

That did it for me and a few others.
Also, as you've seen the 'confo' saying you've successfully set a recording merely means that the request was received.
Please let us know if this indeed solves it for you.

I think there is a known issue here and I think it's being worked on.

That's good news, as I really like the idea of G.R., and she's done pretty well with what she's come up with. When the unintended consequences are ironed out, I'll be back with Genie in a shot.

I still don't get how she can record over a hundred shows!

thanks folks. i turned off Genie this morning, and just scheduled a show to record from my iphone. I'm not at home so I will check the HR34 when I get home to see if turning off Genie allowed the HR34 to set a remote recording *fingers crossed*

I should have searched here first. Instead I called a CSR. They told me, pretty quickly, to disable Genie, and it instantly started working. Then they told me it's not a bug and functioning as designed. I just said, ok, thanks. ;)

I assume it'll get fixed eventually. But, I don't really care. I never liked the TiVo recommendations, and I don't find myself drawn to Genie recs either.
