I've been having problems with my HR34 freezing briefly while playing back recorded programs and on occasion just locking up. So I went into the diagnostic menu and tested the WD20EARS I'm using as an external drive. It failed the file system test and I had to abort the short test. Is there a way to fix these file system errors. If not is the drive dying? Is there a way to transfer the programs and setting on this drive to a new one?

If you run the long test and let it complete, it *might* fix the errors. But it can take forever. And it might not fix them. Best to replace the drive.
