Neither..... sort of. The HR34 will be listed as HMC. And whether you get an HR24 will be determined by what the installer has in his van. It will probably be a 24; but it might not be.

Lame, i guess i will cancel.

Does anyone know that since i was not under contract, if i cancel this order will i still be under the new 2 year contract?

I might as well cancel and order all new service/equipment if i can.

If you are not currently a customer, then you are not under contract until they activate the first box on your account in your house.

If you are not a current customer, cancel that order, then go on the website and build your own order with a HMC (HR34) and two HD receivers. Then you will get what you were wanting.

I am a current customer, however i was not under any agreement, last change done to our system was in 2008.

When i called yesterday they extended the contract two years to get this new equipment. Knowing what i know now, ill rather cancel the whole order all together and just order as a new customer if possible.

Well, you cannot order as a new customer, but you can cancel before you activate anything and keep from extending your contract.

Wait until March, when the HR34 is available to current customers, then work your deal magic. Be prepared to spend at least $399 for the HMC, possibly with credits if they decided to offer credits on that unit.

Or you can try again in Feb when the HMC is supposed to be available to current customers.

Why can't i order as a new customer?

currently the plan is under my future wife's, couldn't we just cancel that and order as a new customer under my name?

If you personally do not have an account, and you dont live at an address that has an active account, then yes, you can sign up as a new customer.

When you cancel your current account, you have to return the leased equipment (depending on the models).
I dont have an account under my name anywhere, and all the equipment is really old (R10, R15-500) so no problem returning it, although they mentioned "we" owned it.

His fiance is a current customer. He isn't. So he can order now as a new customer. But the challenge will be the same address as his fiance's.

DirecTV is wise to those games and will consider the address as the "customer" unless he can prove he just moved in after she moved out. A friend of mine going through a divorce had the same issue and they wouldn't treat him as a new customer.

It's actually pretty simple. You are either a new customer or your not. Just because you tried to cheat the system and it didn't work doesn't mean it makes no sense.
