Well now that it seems like i have found there is an issue with my Hr20-700 swm's tuner i am thinking of just buying an HR34 from solid signal to replace the HR20.

Question though about it do you have to have Deca installed to use the HR34 b/c my whole home dvr is ethernet hardwired and i dont use Deca.

You can use ethernet for whole-home, it won't be supported of course. You must, however have a SWiM, either built in to the dish or external. So, if you have a SWiM there's no benefit to using ethernet; just run ethernet into the HR34 and it will distribute internet to the rest of the system.

Didn't you just have an HR34 installed? If so you can't get a second one, DirecTV will not activate it.
