1.) I know that the new HD Guide software for the HR34 is still in development and the beta testing phase... so what is the most recent software version that works with the HR34 while I'm waiting? Currently I have the 0x4c9 software version. Is 0x4c9 the most current software version available for the HR34?

2.) My new HR34 will not consistently connect to my PC for music, photo, and video sharing. Any ideas on why this connection keeps going in and out, and how do I fix this permanently?

3.) My HR34 Smart Search function will not retrieve any results from YouTube. It will only retrieve "Show" and "Keyword" results. Why is this and how do I fix it?

Any help on these 3 questions would be greatly appreciated!

The only other piece of equipment connected to my HR34 is the small black DECA box. The HR34 runs an ethernet cable into the DECA and then the DECA runs an ethernet cable straight into my router.
That is very interesting. Didnt know they were wiring them like that.
Try removing the DECA (Im guessing its a CCK), and plug the ethernet cable directly from the router into the ethernet port on the HR34.

Make sure NO other DirecTv connections are hooked to your router other than the one ethernet cable from the HR34.

See if that fixes your problem.

Is it a DECA box or a CCK (Cinema Connection Kit)?
They are both the same, just in different boxes. In either case, they should be connected to a DVR or receiver, but not an HMC. That hookup just doesnt make a bit of sense to me. All the ones I have seen only have one ethernet port. Dont know how he is passing ethernet through it.

If it was a wired CCK, shouldn't it be plugged into the splitter on its own, and not connected to the 34? That's how I had my DECA I got connected before the CCK came out,

But regardless, I don't think it should be needed at all.

"Something is wrong here".

The "small black DECA box" only can have one ethernet cable connected [only has one port]

Do you have any other receivers besides the HR34?

maybe take a photo of what's there?

There's an ethernet cable to a single DECA AND from it? That can't be possible as all of the variations only have one port. Or are you saying there's a DECA at the HR34 and another at the router?

What about the coax that's connected to the DECA box? I can't see where the other end of that coax goes, so what do I so with that coax loose end once I disconnect the DECA?
Coax from the splitter to the "black box" should plug into the HR34 satellite in.

Do you have an SWM16? If so, there should be one coax from the SWM16 to the HR34, one coax from the SWM16 to a 4 way splitter, and three coax from the splitter to each of the 3 DVRs. Then ONE ethernet cable from the router to the HR34.

Ditch the "black DECA" for now.

So is there no coax coming from the wall into the HR34 right now then? Meaning does the coax come from the wall into the DECA and then the DECA sends all the programming info to the HR34 via the ethernet cable and that's it?

There's only one small black DECA box right next to my router. It has a black coax coming into it from somewhere and then the ethernet cable coming into it from the HR34.
So the DECA and HR34 have ethernet connections to the router? In that case you can either deep 6 the DECA, or disconnect the HR34 ethernet connection. It's up to you.
