DP11,

One more question.
I know HR 34 has at least one function - PIP - not available in the HR 20.

Is there a way to program differences like this into the Genesis?

Thanks in advance.

There is no specific button for PIP, it's selected from the menu.

Right, it you hit the yellow button, it's on the far right, next to Parental. Other than that, it's essentially the same as the HD GUI for the other boxes.

Actually, the funniest part of the GUI is going to the list and seeing 5 recordings going, or trying to set one when 5 are scheduled. It's a very big message:)

Since I must have one button Home Theater on and off for my lovely wife, I use a universal. The AR Insight is a great remote. And if you choose, you can have the DTV DVRs on RF. The AR Insight has that built in just like the original IR/RF DTV remotes. All the buttons are there including the color bars. Rechargable LI ion batteries and nice backlight. Touch screen for those special functions with six touch buttons on a page. Easy to program, superb code library. Finally found a remote that can replace the older easy to program URC remotes like the MX850.

The AR Insight is just $69 at Fry's.

Do you mean Xsight? Will it MIX IR and RF (if 1 device is rf and the other 2 are IR) ?

I have the AR Xsight Touch ARRX18G and it will allow you to control the your HRxx in RF and your other devices in IR. It can't handle multiple HR's though, in IR or RF. Its a nice remote with a lot of memory and can store multiple macros of any length. I'm actually not crazy about the touch screen, would prefer buttons next to the touch screen. When it was first released it was $250, but I bought it new from Yugster last year for $35.

I'm controlling an HR34-700 and an HR24-200 with one right now. Initially they were both IR, which worked fine. After turning on the DIRECTV RF control on the remote, I had to reprogram the IR controlled HR as a generic device on the XSight Touch and learn each key from the DIRECTV remote.
