I've been out of the DirecTV upgrade loop for awhile, and to say things have changed since I last purchased my 3 HR24s several years ago would be an understatement. I also apologize in advance for asking a question that may have been asked and answered multiple times, but I've not been able to find a thread that addresses my particular questions.
My understanding is that if I were to upgrade to the HS17, I would have to get rid of all my HR24s and replace them with clients. Is this based on technical issues, or it it purely a marketing/business decision by AT&T? If the restriction is due to technical issues, do you anticipate a genie 3 that would address this issue? If it's simply a business decision, do you ever see AT&T changing their mind?
