I've been using a Hughes GCEBO DTV Receiver for the past few months. Although all of the current DTV channels use a three numeral channel designation, this receiver was programmed to use four digits. Thus I could start my dialing with a zero followed by the three digits, dial three digits and wait a few seconds for the receiver to switch channels, or dial the three digits and hit "Select" to change the channel. No big deal, not hard to do. But, yesterday, I noticed that the receiver is now programmed in the more conventional three digit format and there is no longer any need for a fourth digit. Is this something that DirecTV automatically transmitted to my receiver? Also, does anyone happen to know the reason for this change. I'm just curious about the change. It, obviously, has no real effect on my receiver usage. Thanks.......

Funny....my receiver (same model) still uses 4-digit channel numbers. No indication of a pending upgrade.

Steve, my receiver went back to the four digit code. If my wife had not seen the three digit setip earlier on the same day that I did, I would think that I was imagining the whole thing. But I'm absolutely certain that for one day, my received worked with just three digits.

I also had the same thing happen on my executive director receiver. It lasted for one day. I found out as I used 0 first and then 3 digits and I wound up with a single digit local channel. Next day it was back to 4 digits.

I see the same thing on our Sony Receiver. Some days you need to enter 3 digits, and others you need to enter 4 digits. Very very strange if you ask me!
