I finally did it :)
Well I finally did it. I signed up for D* today. Ended up going to BestBuy due to the fact they had HR22's in stock. Well turns out that you cannot take home the equipment unless you were upgrading your equipment. But the good news (hopefully) is that when I asked her how long the DVR would be able to record and she told me that it records 100 HD/400 SD hours. So let's hope I get the HR22.
So here is the deal I got.
NFL Sunday Ticket $74.99/month
Also received a $30/month credit for 3 months since I signed up at BB
Free DVR for 4 months
Free Nascar Hotpass
So my first 3 bills will be $44.99 for every channel!!! I know HD Access is $9.99 extra.
Overall, I am very happy with how nice the rep was and I must have ask her the same question 12 times just to make sure she was sure herself about the offer I was getting.
Septembr 15th is my install date....can't wait.....also I added NHL Center Ice and the remainder of MLB EI

I Can't wait for MLB games from EI in HD. I currently have Cablevision and they dont have any HD games for baseball or hockey with their repective packages.

I had EI on Comcast for years, never a game in HD. Sometimes I'd miss portions of games because they didn't have enough channels alloted to show every game at any given time. Last year, my first with D*, about 60% of the games I watched were in HD. This season 100%. I can even choose the home or away feed. Welcome to DBSTalk! You may be able to go to your online account, and move your install date up...if you're not the patient sort:lol: 
So you go to the store to buy the HD DVR + service as a new customer but as such you can't take the unit selected home? Very interesting distribution model DirecTV has these days. Indeed it will be interesting what model they show up with, given the almost random distribution model they seem to employ these days. Let us know what you get.skylox said:Well I finally did it. So, then, .... can I conclude that if you are a new customer buying through a retail outlet like BB or Costco, then miracle of miracles DirecTV IS INDEED ABLE to guarantee a certain model is installed? That is an interesting question.
One would think that if HR22s are going for $199, and HR21s are $169, the customer should have some assurance that he will get the right one.
