I hope this is the right deal - UTV!

I have had Dish for the past year (leased 301's) to test see if I liked satellite. Been lurking in the forums the past few months and saw all the negatives on Dish PVR. Dish Contract is up and started scouting Directv...

CC sold me two RCA DS4290RE UTV's for $150 including installation ($99 each + tax with a $65 mail in rebate). Of course this doesn't include the 2nd line run to each receiver but I can handle that one day in the future myself. Since the back of my house faces the woods, I think I'll have them stick both dishes up and just drop the lines so that I don't have to buy the switches in the future.

I was told that these units were being discontinued and they only had 6 left in my area but that I still have 30 days to take these back if I didn't like it. I haven't had the time to fully research but it seemed like a deal that couldn't be passed up.

Please tell me this is worth it. I think the deal is for existing and new customers. (for one system it was $99 with a $50 rebate). Hope to be more involved in the boards once I get my UTV up!:hi:

I have two of the RCA UTV units and can't imagine watching tv without them. I upgraded one of my units (easy to do) to a 120GB hard drive. You got a good deal, as long as you don't mind the two dishes on your roof. I have on dual-lbd dish and a 2X6 multi-switch. They have come down in price, so that is something you can look at as well. I would advise you to buy a keyboard - makes searching and webtv access much easier. I bought a RCA wireless UTV keyboard off EBay for $17.

You'll love having the PVR. It makes watching tv much more enjoyable. Good luck with your install.
You're definitely gonna love UTV. And get that second cable run as soon as you can because having dual tuner is so excellent!
