I just got the HR20 today. Tonight, I had it record "The Unit" on CBS-HD local, while watching "House" on FoxHD local. When I went to MyVOD to watch the recording, the unit put up a gray screen, with the 'progress bar', but refused to play the recording. In fact, it would not accept any commands at all, from the remote OR the front panel. The only thing that would restore normal functions was a red button reset.
My question is: Is there a workaround to allow watching this recording? Or will I just have to delete it unwatched?
I am testing now, recording from HDNet, and this plays back fine...no problems. Trying to watch The Unit, though, still locks up the HR20. Any help, info, advice out there?

I'm not sure what's causing it.

I'm sorry I can't help out with your Unit problem.

Well established bug.

Here is an example http://www.dbstalk.com/showthread.php?t=67124&highlight=remote

lots of us have had this problem, a reboot appears to be the only fix.
Thanks for the quick responses, but I think you are missing the crux of my issue. That is that I am unable to watch this recording from HD local without locking up the box. My question is: Is there an issue with the HR20 with playing back recordings from MPEG4 locals?

The Unwatchable or Unplayable BUG

It happens on mpeg4 and mpeg2 recordings.

matto, you got anything better to do than simply picket the HR20? I kinda think you don't. That's both sad and terrible.

I think he was just responding to the guy who commented about the other guy having problems with "his unit" Maybe he should see a doctor. :D

Agreed. I've looked back at his recent posts and most of them are smartassed.
I recorded the OU-Missouri game last Saturday off of ABC-HD (local) and started watching it after it had been recording for 2 hours (3 hour program w/ 1 hour pad) and it played without problems. I haven't tried any other recording yet.
