Well we woke up tonight (work 3rd shift) to find our unit not responding to the remote. I was able to push the power button and it is now coming up, but going through the complete initial install routine. I have a bad feeling that Vegas did not record but am not for sure.

I had given a lot of praise for the recent update, but I am hesitant now since this is the first time this has ever happened. Any one else ever have this issue?

A lot of people have had this problem. If it keeps happening, a reformat seems to be the only fix. Search for my posts in the 0xEB and 0xEF discussion threads.

Uh oh....wife went to change channels and could not use the remote. Tried changing on the unit and is was unresponsive as well. Had to cut the power and restart again. This is not looking to good.

I don't know if a reformat is a fix rather it just resets the system back to a refreshed state. The reformat appears to be the last option for the frustrated, an option for the desperate in an attempt to feel like they are at least doing something to relieve their pain. I don't think there is any evidence that it resolves anything, you are just starting from scratch, it might help but it is just as likely that what ever is going on in the software is just as likely to happen again once you reformat. It may just take a little more time as you start to rebuild your recording options and configuration. As far as we know you might as well just power it down and back up again and that might be just as good since it clears memory registers, reformatting may be about as effective as changing your tires when you have a bad transmission.
