I don't know if a reformat is a fix rather it just resets the system back to a refreshed state. The reformat appears to be the last option for the frustrated, an option for the desperate in an attempt to feel like they are at least doing something to relieve their pain. I don't think there is any evidence that it resolves anything, you are just starting from scratch, it might help but it is just as likely that what ever is going on in the software is just as likely to happen again once you reformat. It may just take a little more time as you start to rebuild your recording options and configuration. As far as we know you might as well just power it down and back up again and that might be just as good since it clears memory registers, reformatting may be about as effective as changing your tires when you have a bad transmission.avatar230 said:
