The TV networks have to support it, along with DirecTV putting support in the software. I didn't see it used all that frequently though. It may even be a Tivo patent, which would prevent DirecTV from including the functionality.
The networks already support it and send it. Otherwise the Tivo wouldn't get the message to Pop.Jeremy W said:The TV networks have to support it, along with DirecTV putting support in the software. You forgot to turn the Sarcasm ON at the start of the post.ouijal said:This forum is not for asking about what the HR20 should or doesn't do, it is only for asking about what it can do in a positive, all-american manner. Also note that if the HR20 fails then technically it didn't do a task so therefore you cannot ask about that either. Please find the appropriate forum for your TIVO cult mind-games.

doh! No wonder my sarcasm parser was reporting an object expected error.Earl Bonovich said:You forgot to turn the Sarcasm ON at the start of the post.
Um, all DirecTV would have to do is put an interactive app on the HDD and when the right commercial pops up on a specific network (or not even on a specific network) you press the Red button "or whatever." Could work exactly like those interactive ads, only off disk. There couldn't be a Tivo patent on it because even NDS has developed a way to do off disk interactive ads.Jeremy W said:The TV networks have to support it, along with DirecTV putting support in the software. Maybe D* can do an interaactive pop up that tells me when to do a red button reset? Show the friendly face of D* isntead of the ugly BSOD.jonaswan2 said:Um, all DirecTV would have to do is put an interactive app on the HDD and when the right commercial pops up on a specific network (or not even on a specific network) you press the Red button "or whatever." In Tivo's format. And not all networks do it, either.tibber said:The networks already support it and send it.
And how is the HR20 supposed to know when the right commercial pops up if the network isn't embedding some special code in the commercial to tell it?jonaswan2 said:Um, all DirecTV would have to do is put an interactive app on the HDD and when the right commercial pops up on a specific network (or not even on a specific network) you press the Red button "or whatever."
