For those of you not familiar with this issue I, and a few others, have had, read this thread:

http://www.dbstalk.com/showthread.php?t=66891

So, I just hooked up the new HR20 DTV sent to replace my "Dancing" box and as I'm going through the setup, the SAME THING IS HAPPENING! Could it be I truly have another faulty box, or is it more likely something else? Any insight from anyone out there would be GREATLY appreciated. Again, the same satellites and transponders are fine on my old Tivo unit that I have in the same room when I hook the sat feed lines into it. Would there be any reason that the Tivo unit would show stabilized readings while the HR20 does not if something OTHER than the HR20 was messed up? Frustrating!!! Thanks all.

I'm certainly not as smart technically with such matters, but...

What about the multi switch? Or are all of your lines home-run to each of your receivers? Maybe the HR20 is more "sensitive" to any disturbance on the cables.

I bypassed the multi-switch and the problem remains, so it's not the WB68. DTV is going to send a tech out next weekend, but I don't see what he will really be able to do, other than tell them to send me yet another replacement box. Anyone else having this issue?

I just got to thinking, could this problem be a result of a loss in line signal strength? Would a couple of the 20dB in-line amplifiers possibly fix this? I do have slightly more than 100' of cable running to this receiver. It's a longer run to my son's receiver though, which is a SD Tivo, and he is not having this issue with his, but could the HR20 be more succeptible to signal drop? Thoughts?

If you connect your HR10-250 HD DVR to the same satellite cables as your HR20 HD DVR, do you still have the problem? If not, then it sure sounds like an HR20 problem. 100-feet of coax should be fine. Do you know if it's solid copper core RG6 cable, by chance? That's the coax recommended with the AT9 5-LNB dish.

I never had the 10-250. The HR20 is my first HD box. Yes, it's all solid copper high quality cable. I just ran all new cable through my house a few weeks before I got the HR20 as it WAS copper clad steel.

If I try the in-line amplifiers, does it matter which side of the switch they should go on? Before or after the Multi-switch?
