I see 16 great channels that dish has.Why don't Directv have them? They are up and running on Dish.So the bs stops here. The 16 channels are legit channels most are HBO and Cinemax channels that we should already have with this new D11 Satellite. That is how I feel about this.I know that Directv has some channels that Dish don't.But the excuse of there not being any top channels up and running is not true.

I hope DirecTV gets every HD channel out there, but they have never promised they will add them all.

There will always be differences in the channel lineup.

If it turns out Dish has more HD channels that a customer wants, he will have to go there, just as we always have with SD.
Although I am quite happy with D*'s channel line up, it would be nice to have the rest of the HBO's, etc., since we are paying for them. I am sure they will appear in time, although I wonder why the delay.
I just wish Directv would add local PBS channels in HD. Oh and AMC HD....
from the chart... lifetime is one of them... definitely not on my top 10 list

What exactly are these 16 channels?
check the link.
Yeah, I'm going to go ahead and cancel my HBO. Premium movie channels in SD are f**ing worthless (it's awful to have a movie show up that I'd like to watch, but only in pan-n-scan). I can't really see paying $14 a month for a single channel (with a second time delay feed, also pretty worthless with a DVR). I used to subscribe when I was on cable, because even a single additional HD channel when they only had about 8 others was nice, but it seems like pretty poor value on DirecTV. If they add the other channels I should be getting with my subscription I might reconsider adding it.
What about the 13 channels that D* has that E* doesn't?
I don't understand the push for more Premiums in HD...HBO2, HBOS, HBOF all cycle through the same movies HBO has. The same goes for Starz & others. If movies are big to you, I suggest Netflix or BB.

Actually, only partially true.

Movies are cycled through to some extent but they are often cycled in different months. For example, Flags of our Fathers was on the main HBO channels for a few months but then moved to the "other" channels. There goes the HD.

Other examples of non-cycled movies abound for older or smaller releases. I just finished reading The Name of the Rose by Umberto Eco. Wanted to rewatch the movie. It is on but on an SD-only channel. I had to use a Netflix swap to watch it when I could have seen it in HD by the flick of a button if we had more HD movie channels.

The myth is that it is all repetition but it really isn't repitition like the East and West coast feeds. The repetition is more spread out and can be quite useful, for when we miss things or we have a whim to watch something different or unplanned. (I have Netflix for Blu Ray and am using BB by mail to watch TV series like Babylon 5 but those things take days or a trip to the store.)

Besides, there isn't much more HD out there when you count out the premium movie channels.

Patience grashopper...

And by my count there are 17 channels DirecTV had that Dish doesn't...

I admit that I am chomping at the bit for them to add some of the channels.. but good things come to those who wait and we have been ahead of the curve for a long time now. I do not begrudge the run-up of all the LIL's for those who have waited so long, and I get, don't like mind you, but get, the big run up of channels to handle the college and professional football seasons.

DirecTV quite obviously has a plan and they are sticking to it. There are starting to appear rumors for a October 15th rollout of channels that we have been waiting for... and that is only 3 more weeks.. hang in there.
All I saw were 16 channels I couldn't care less about. There I said it, there are no more HD channels I care about, not one. I have every channel I ever care to see in HD right now.

I dont know that " World Fishing" channel looks smoking 2-me !!!!!!!!!!!!!
I don't care for the TWC, or Comcast comparison, as they should take the mean of all of TWC's networks not just the largest.

In my area TWC offers 13 HD channels TOTAL. And not one is HDPPV so that means no UFC in HD.

Why "flounder" around? Just for the "Halibut" we should try to get it added.....

I hope that count included CMT HD and VH1 HD...those are real keepers!! :D
Is one of them a correct grammar channel?
All I know is that D* is killilng the competition with their PPVHD channels. Now talk about blowing out the competition.
