I'm currently paying $30 extra a month because I have 6 DVRs(HD and SD).
On top of that, there's the $10 HD programming fee.

If I upgrade my programming to Total Choice Premier @ $99 per month,
will DirecTV waive the DVR mirroring and HD fees?

Thanks!

Just the DVR fee. You still pay mirror and HD fee's as a flat fee per account.

At $7500/yr who is this package really aimed at. I don't see many willing to drop that kind of money on a package where you will rarely have enough time to benefit from it in one week let alone a whole year.

For $7500/yr I hope they would! That's just insane!

I've always thought that they should waive the mirroring charges, HD charges, and service plan charges with Premier. If you are spending $100/month for freakin' satellite service it's the least they could do. Heck, if they did that I'd probably upgrade as I'm paying almost that much already with TC Plus, 4 receivers, HD, DVR, and service plan. Unfortunately that $100 grows to more like $130 when you add in the mirroring fees and the HD fees.

Man, we spend WAY too much money to watch tv...

Agreed :)

I tend to agree with you a on waiving those costs, but cable does it too. What I would rather see, now that we rent rather than buy is, completely waiving the upfront charges, since we don't own the box anymore. Or alternatively, you pay one upfront charge, and waive the monthlies.

Another alternative is your first 2 boxes are free, everything above that gets a mirroring fee

I still can't believe I spend that much on TV, even when I first got cable, my bills were in the $25 range. The price has quadropled in 25 years!!

That just about sums it up for me... :)

By the way, is there really a "Total Choice Titanium" for $7500/year?
Or are you guys just kidding? :D For that kind of money, I think the
package should come with a free Panasonic 65-inch plasma with 1080p! :D :D :D

Yes, it exists. They won't give you the Panny, but if you whine enough, you can probably get a $5/mo. credit.

You're actually taking about three different fees. With Total Choice Premier, the $5.99 DVR fee is waived as DVR service is included with Premier. The $25 ($4.99x5) for the additional (secindary) receivers will remain-there's no way to get rid of that. The most that will happen is if you somehow convert from ownership on a receiver to lease (as when you get a replacement receiver out of warranty), the name of the fee will change (to lease fee) but it will still be there. As for the HD package fee, that will reamin, too, as it is not part of Premier.

:nono2: Holy cow! (haven't used those two words in 3+ years!) :nono2:

Unfortunately, I think DirecTV is guilty of false advertising. They claim
"unlimited programming" for Titanium subscribers. This is simply not
true.... I don't think SD/HD networks channels(non-local or NY/LA) are
included, yet they don't list this fact in the fine prints... :(

If they lower the price to $2500/year, I may be very interested. !pride

Personally, I think they are trying to establish a value for what they deem the loss to piracy. It will be easier in their lawsuit to ask for monetary compensation when they catch people using decoders to steal all programs.

I don't think there are any current decoders out there. thought they cleaned all that up with the old cards...
