Just Sent an e-mail asking if they plan to add the channel. That is one i'd like to see in HD too.
Frankly, between all the edits that they've done and commercials I'd rather see Turner come up with TMC HD or Fox Movies HD then AMC, sorry.

Thanks!
I think DirecTv would try to get channels that cover sports teams in HD first. I am waiting patiently for DirecTv to get WGN America in HD so I can see the Cubs and White Sox games in HD when they play on that channel. With D11 now operational i'm hoping it won't be too much longer.

I completely agree with you about movies (I'll be among the first picketing D* when TCM goes HD), but Mad Men, besides being one of the best shows on television, is a must see in HD type show.
I wouldn't be surprised to see it lit up this week ...

So maybe just wait four days max this week to be sure?
I called and wrote last week. I got the same canned reply everyone else did that there are no plans to carry AMC HD at this time. I suspect that it is a contract negotiation issue with Rainbow Media that also owns the Voom channels. Negotiations like that can get very messy as the two companies have different goals.

I also wrote about PBS HD and for the first time I got a favorable response on that. The canned reply is a new one. It may still be a bit longer but we should have PBS HD in the next 2-3 months.

Not sure why. I have it in HD and it is okay. It really doesn't look much better than the VoD version available on DirecTV. People say this over and over but there are no special effects. No artistic shots. No real color of any kind. No subtly in the production. Just standard movie look of the 1950s, early 1960s.
This thread is really skirting the line....

we do not allow petitions here at DBSTalk. Calls for e-mails are ok.

Sorry. i didn't mean it to be a Petition . I was just telling people to email D* because so many here have been asking about AMC-HD for many weeks. You can remove this thread if you think it violates any rules.

I agree, TCM and FMC have bigger film libraries and no commercials
I can not watch AMC for movies. Just too many commercial breaks inserted with little concern for content.

I agree with this statement. I love MAD MEN but it is not a show that screams for HD. Few outdoor shots, bland color and so forth. Great show but not one that was "made for HD".
Maybe it doesn't "scream for HD"; however, I watched the first season on Blu Ray and am now watching it on D*. There is a "huge" difference on a 60" display.

I agree completely. The Blu-Ray version of Mad Men is great, and a big departure from the SD version on VOD. The difference is huge even on my 42" display.
to (kinda) quote sting:

i want my, i want my, i want my amchd !

Turner ought to put HD content on the HD channels they have now before they ask for more.
