I'm Not New At This...

playing the games with Dish Network and their ways of sniping the dollars from your wallet. After almost a year away from D/N... was some relief, I decided to return and be apart of Charlie Ergens Snow Boarding Dish Company...again. Most subscribers that have signed up with Charlie's pick pocketing, know they pay in advance ... two months to be exact. And should they ever leave... discontinue the service, they never get that second month they paid returned. I think it was mentioned here on the forum... Dish Network lost about 338,000 subscribers the first quarter... correct me if I'm wrong. So, let's say the average D/N owner paid in advance... that second month a sum of $70.00. Figure...338,000 x $70.00 =23,660.000.00 went into D/N coffers.

That was about to happen on August 11th... give old billionaire Charlie few more dollars. When I signed-off last October, the CSR lady told me that I had two months "free" if I returned to D/N, and gave me a "code" number to give to the CSR that I would be talking to. Well, for the record, no one seems to have "ever" heard of such a thing, and said, "I didn't qualify for any free months of programming." So, I waited couple hours, and called again. Now, this CSR must have went to school, and knew how to read, as she said... "you have one month free due when you sign up again." I ask the CSR to punch me into a "Account Specialist", as I think I have two months coming.
Well, the account specialist got her two cents in, she said, " don't have any free programming due, as you didn't pay for the last month you had service." I mentioned that my last month of service was from November 15, 2007 to December 14, 2007, and that I canceled my service on October 25, 2007, and that I had only used ten days of the month I had paid for, which was from October 15, 2007 to November 14, 2007, and that I had sent a check for $66.34 which was due November 4th, 2007.
So, trying to explain to her that I had paid two months in advance in 2003, and only used 10 days of the last month...October, that I should have at least a full month and half of programming due me.
I hung up on her, and waited one day, and called again. This time, I got a CSR that could speak English and understand some sort add and subtract figures. She left the phone for a moment, returned to tell me I had one month "free" due for programming. In my trouble with the these people at D/N, I figured I had better take the lesser of the two... the free month. I, restarted my service on
August 15th with the CSR, and for Top 250, and Tulsa locals, plus extra room receiver, and state tax, she said, my programming from September 15 to October 14th would be $68.43. Guess what? Received my invoice today showing I owe $136.87 due Sept. 4th. Nothing mentioned of any "free" month.

Well, so much for trying to out smart old Charlie. Direct TV here I come. For Sale..

1) If you were so disgruntled, why come back?

2) Aside from the adjustment from starting my service, I've only been billed one month in advance... a standard industry practice.

I can't imagine why they were billing you for two... bad credit maybe? Nope... that's not likely. You can't get service with bad credit, so that's not it.

BTW: Things have changed A LOT since Q1. Have fun with D*. I suspect you'll not be happy there either.
I believe only the first bill is for 2 months. After that you are paying one month in advance.

That's the way it was for me. And it was explained up front.

I'm guessing your are right! It's amazing that if it was so bad the first he would even come back.
Dish is probably happy Direct will have to deal with him now... Imagine his surprise when his first bill from them is for two months.

How much?
Uhhh ... no deals in this forum. We have a place for buying and selling equipment. (I would have pulled it from his post but I read it as an expression of discontent and not a legitimate offer to sell the equipment.)
