The signal strength for my 99 & 103 satellites are not as high as I would like them to be. (Some transponders as low as 60.)

After viewing the installation videos at solidsignal.com, the fine tuning alignment process seems pretty straight forward, but I don't have a hand held signal meter. (My dish is in a location I can easily get to.)

Question: If I get somebody to read the signal levels from an odd numbered transponder from the 101 satellite from my receiver in the house, will this be accurate enough for fine tuning?

Not the 101, but I just re-did mine using the 99c/103c SATs, and the fine tuning adjustments.

Thanks.

Did you adjust your dish tilt or just the elevation and the azimuth?
The "fine tuning" is only EL and the other AZ, so "tilt" is mostly for the 119 to match your 101 readings.
Now if you find your 103 fine tuning causes 99 to "detune" [or the other way around], then you may need to "ever so slightly" tweak your tilt.

Yup, you are fine to use the receiver signal bars. There is a bit of delay but nothing serious and it still works great.

In fact it is better than many meters as many installers do not have ones that can see the new Ka (99/103) birds.
