I feel Joel Skinner is the guy they want in there permanently. He has managed a lot of the younger guys from his days at Buffalo and is the young, exciting type of manager that the Indians want to pattern their team after. Although he is under the interim label now, I thinkk he might be the manager for years to come. What will be interesting to see is how they deal with Eddie Murray. Is he going to remain the hitting coach? He has to keep Mike Brown as pitching coach. The guy has done a fabulous job this year, but does Murray last the whole year, and if he does, will he be back next year?
And thirdly, it is not to place blame on Charlie. That has nothing to do with it. It doesn't even make sense. He was fired because he basically gave them an ultimatum. He wanted an answer about his future and they gave him one. He wanted to find out if he would be hired in the offseason and if they planned on keeping him around. He didn't want to just be strung along this year with no future in sight. It came down to just fire him now and stop dragging him on, or keep him and re-hire him in the offseason. They chose to dump him.
