Remember the good old days when they ran mostly movies all night on TV? I am reminded of this almost every time someone here asks about an older horror/sci-fi film and I remember seeing it on TV years ago. Like a really wierd one called "The Baby" - where two sisters keep their grown, mentally impaired brother in diapers. It was pretty kinky.

Or, "The Incredibly Strange Creatures Who Stopped Living and Became Mixed-Up Zombies" or "The Brain that Wouldn't Die" or "The Frozen Dead" or "Crucible of Horror" or "Black Sunday" or "Castle of Terror" or"Circus of Horrors". I could go on and on. Now, I'll admit these may not all be great movies. But they were fun to watch. And now hardly seen.

Now all you get at night is "Walk Away the Flab", or "Icky Blue Stuff" or" Total Bowflex Absmasher" or "How to Clean out Your Impacted Colon in Five Minutes" infomercials. That is what is wrong with the world today. Thank you for listening.

I like the one with the short guy acting like he's a chef and all the audience has chef hats on. And he's showing you some knife that can slice bread. I'm like ok it can slice a tomato, when are you gonna slice through a car door or something?

Also, anything Ron Popeil does like that glorified toasteroven he's been hawking lately. I just can't get excited over roasted chicken.

You should see the Enerex informercial on Playboy. (;))

I don't mind infomercials on most channels (because I'm usually sleeping), but I really wish MuchMusic USA would run music videos instead of paid programming late at night and in the morning. When it was still MuchMusic Canada, I don't think they ran infomercials at all. 7-minute commercial breaks every 3 videos is enough, no more infomercials!

Yeah. I also remember when most OTA station would go off the air at night because they couldn't afford to have the transpitter going! :)

I HATE infomercials! The whole idea of infomercials on OTA TV channels is counter to the licensing. If I were King, one simple rule (after re-instating the 7-7-7 ownership rule). Maximum 20 minutes of commercials per hour on any OTA station when children are not likely to be watching. Maximum 15 minutes per hour when children are likely to be watching. This would include PBS station's beg-a-thons/action-auctions/on-air fund raisers.

So if a TV station wants to run a 20 minute infomercials, no problem. The rest of the hour (which they MUST complete--can't go off the air) must be commercial free programming.

In the definition of commercial it would include ANY self-promotion material.

Oh..yes. Bugs would be limited to 5 seconds per 5 minutes showing only station logo or ID and must be static or they constitute commercial time. (self promotion of the channel/network)

Then I would be assasinated.

See ya

All for Tony to be OUR KING raise the hand you're not using for fishing in your pocket. Ain't no tuna down there, just minnows.

As far as the infomercials go, it's the idiots that keep ordering the stuff that keep the programs on the air. If people didn't call in, all the infocrap would go away.
