Initial signup autorenew question

Hey all!

I just got D* installed a few weeks ago, & I have one quick question . . .

I was given the remainder of NASCAR HOTPASS for free when I signed up. Nothing against NASCAR, but I don't watch it. However, I was wondering since they have me signed up for it this year, will they try and autorenew me next year even though I only have it through a promotion? Just curious if this has happened to anyone or if anyone knows if autorenew is just for packages that are purchased.

Thanks in advance.

watch the items on your bills. there is a 0$ item on the bill before the season starts each time. that is a warning that it is about to autorenew
I'm not familiar with the NASCAR channel, but I sure am familiar with ESPN GamePlan. To be on the safe side, call or e-mail before the next season starts and make sure you are canceled with no auto renew. E-mail is better as you can ask for a written reply stating you were canceled.

Last year I had GamePlan. I didn't realize that my favorite conference was no longer on GamePlan so I called to cancel a few days after the season started. They wouldn't cancel it as the season had already started.

I wrote them an e-mail and asked them not to auto renew it in 2008.

I also called and asked them then to not auto renew it in 2008. They assured me it would not auto renew.

There was nothing on my bill after that point indicating GamePlan at all, so I thought I was safe. 5 days ago I received what looked like junk mail and almost threw it out, but buried deep inside was a notice saying that I could simply do nothing and GamePlan would be automatically renew for another year!!!

Needless to say I wrote them an e-mail that night and demanded confirmation that GamePlan was canceled with no auto renew in the future.

Still, before the next season starts I'll do it again. I suggest you play it safe and do the same with NASCAR.

I think this absolutely stinks! I travel a lot. Just the week before we were away on vacation. If I were out of town this past week I would now have GamePlan for another year completely against my wishes.

Thank you both for your help!:D

I have sent an email and will also keep an eye on my bill.
