Getting DIRECTV installed tomorow and I have a couple of questions:

Do the installers typically use the existing wiring? (Everyone who has it seems to be using the existing) I thought all the wiring has to be RG-6?

The reason why I'm asking this is because I live on the 2nd floor of a multi-family, and I don't see any need to run the wire from the dish, into the basement, back up to this floor, and into the TV-PLUS the wiring in this building is terrible, it's all "CATV" (which is just RG-59?) mislabeled, frayed ends, bent, etc...

Can they run the wires directly from the dish in through the side of the building into my apartment? Or atleast run them on the inside of my apartment? (Like behind couches, etc)?

Thanks

Sorry-Another question, I had to ask the Landlord for approval, he said it was fine, but there seems to be an old dish on the side of the building, and he want's the installer to take it down-Will they be able to do this or should I just do it myself? I don't even know whos apartment it goes to

The installer most likely won't touch that old dish. Before you do, you need to find out if it is in use and by whom. If someone is using it, then you, the other tenant, the landlord, and the installer are all going to have to agree on how multiple units will share a dish. If nobody is using the old dish, and the current tenant at the other end of the wire from that dish isn't the one who put it in to start with and has no use for it, then you are probably safe taking it down.
