Hello, new to D* TV and HD. I originally ordered D* TV off of their website at the end of September in prep for delivery of my new TV. At the time they gave me an install date of 11/3 and I wasn't even asking for an HR20! I was frustrated and kept hounding them but they just kept telling me that they were behind and so be it. A neighbor of mine got his install done by a local dealer and suggested that I talk to him. I went there and they said that they could do the install the following weekend (this was back in mid October). By then I had decided that I really needed the HR20 and the local dealer told me that he couldn't get any until early November at best. Well after reading this forum religiously (THANK YOU ALL SOOOO MUCH) I was lucky enough to get my hands on an HR20 today at Circuit City. I went by the local dealer and told him that I had the HR20 and could we schedule the install and he provide the rest of the boxes and the dish. Sorry for the long story, there is a question here. The local dealer is scheduled to do my install this Saturday so here's my question...Why do the local dealers charge for installs and regular boxes that I would get free if I wait for D*TV? Will D*TV reimburse me for the costs since it was their inability to deliver that caused me to go local? TIA

It depends, you might be able to get retention to credit you either all at once or over a period of a year in monthly credits. The best route would have been to wait and let them install it on the original schedule. Obviously the contractor needs his money if he is going to do it earlier. However some customers have been able to get credits, while others have not. So it's hit or miss and not set in stone that your guaranteed to get credit. Personally I think you should, and I hope you do.
