Interactive Receiver needed for D* NASCAR Hot Pass?

I've had the H20 for the past year now. As we all know, its a decent HD receive w/a pretty good OTA tuner in it. We also know its NOT interactive despite teasing bits of information that we keep hearing that it will be.

With that in mind, is an interactive receiver needed for the upcoming D* NASCAR Hot Pass?

I have an old D10 in the garage that has this functionality. Word is the D11 (also standard def) and the buggy HR20-700 HD DVR are interactive.

Will I need to upgrade to the HD-DVR in order to use the NASCAR Hot Pass channels or will it be like the H20 w/the NFL Sunday Ticket SuperFan where you see the mix channel information but can only audio toggle between them?

Yes.

I've given up on the H20 ever getting interactive capabilities. For some reason it is the red-headed step child of DirecTV receivers, and they just don't care about it. Nevermind the fact that it's HD, and therefore the customers who do have it are the ones who statistically pay more every month...

I ordered the Nascar Hot pass for my wife. She watches in our bedroom which will have the H20. And mainly in our living room which has the R15 dvr. Which I assume is interactive. Since when I watch a baseball game it allows me to check scores of other games and change to another camera view.

Does anyone have any clue which receivers are definitely interactive?

Do I need any special DIRECTV equipment to watch NASCAR HotPass?

No. All DIRECTV receivers allow you to view NASCAR HotPass channels. However, some additional interactive features may be included in the package, which will require an interactive receiver to use those added features. The D10, D11, HR20 models are all interactive at this time.

That's wonderful how they keep updating the bottom of the line crap receiver, while us H20 users sit here waiting. :nono2:

I'm sure they'll be releasing an H21 soon with interactive capabilities, just to completely seal the deal that the H20 won't ever have it.

Will the D12 have RF remote capabilities? I don't think the D11 does.

I don't know yet... The details are just starting to "pan out"... hopefully soon, I will have more.

Hi,
From what I've been able to see about the d12 I wouldn't count on rf compatibility, but I've only looked at some images of the unit, and could be wrong. Also the unit seems to be smaller than the d10s and11s, it doesn't even have a light to indicate whether its on or off, so its probably a more basic unit than the d10s.

There's nothing on the outside that would indicate whether it has RF or not. They've moved to internal antennas.

Oh, so the R15 will work, even though it isnt one of the ones listed on the DirecTV site as will work with Hotpass?

It should work... as the R15 is interactive... I don't know of a reason why it wouldn't.

Is the HR20 listed?

It is #12 on the FAQ list under HotPass. And yes the HR20 is listed, but not the R15.
