I found a document on the web that is addressing a lot of issues that are of interest to us. Some people in this forum have addressed concerns about the picture quality not being as good as it should be due to over compression, etc. You can read more about this in this document

Note: I'm brand new to this forum and I'm a brand new subscirber to satellite service (Less than 24 Hrs. I just got my first DBS system installed last night). I switched from Time Warner Digital Cable to Direct t.v. (Ultimate T.V.) and so far I'm really happy with what I've seen. I can tell that the picture is a bit faded as compared to some of the channels that were on cable's digital tier, but I hope this will be improved.
