Here is some interesting reading...

This PRER14C was filed on July 11th by Echostar in regards to the merger.

With this filing it appears that the merger is about to be approved. (Well at least Echostar feels this way) :D

Sure looks that way Scott. Wonder how long it will be before the decision will be made. I'll take Mid August.

I also read somewhere that Cablevision wants some of the slots that E* will have to give up so they can setup a satelite service.
GOD BLESS THE MERGER!!!!
It appears we all are in for an interesting ride.

Two things the merger will do for us is eliminate the E*/D* PQ wars,
and cut out the "my DBS is better than your DBS" BS.
The documents refered to were required to be filed to the appropriate "authorities" to continue the evaluation process. I don't think the fact that the required papers were filed has any bearing on the odds of the merger happening. I am currently putting the odds at 60-40 in favor of happening. Of course Echostar feels that the merger will happen.
And if the merger does not occur they could reapply with an appeal, correct? They could see the issues that would cause it NOT to go through and then see to those issues.

It is only speculation that E* will have to give up any slots. At any rate, I fail to see why a third rate cable company like Long Island's Cablevision should just be "handed" spectrum that should, if taken away from NE*, be auctioned.
