Interesting. What type of dish do you have? Do the dish's outputs connect to a multiswitch, or do they run directly to your DVR/Receivers? If you have a multiswitch, try swapping the output cables to see if the problem "moves". And let us know what brand/model multiswitch you have.
Interesting Samsung SIR-TS160 issue.

I also have a Samsung SIR-TS160 issue, a strange one. I'd like to know if anyone else has experienced this problem.
Recently i upgraded to a HR10-250. I ran a second cable from the dish in order to use both tuners to both record and watch a different channel at the same time. I kept my TS160 active so i can eventually move it up stairs in order to hook up to an eventual HD unit there. Presently i have a simple D* reciever upstairs, basic unit that's working perfectly. Oddly enough i tried this morning to hook up the TS160 to the upstairs tv to use instead. When i did this the TS160 cannot detect a satellite signal. I put the basic unit back and it detects it right away. Weird huh.
Out of curiosity i took the TS160 back down stairs and hooked it back up to the line coming into the HR10-250. The thing detected signal right away.
Downstairs-TS160 detects signal.
Upstairs-TS160 does not.
Upstairs-Standard D* reciever detects signal right away.
Has anyone had this happen? Is it because i have 2 HD units connected?

I'm not using a multiswitch at all. I'm running three seperate cables from the dish which is the 3lnb setup. Two of the cables are running into the HR10-250. The 3rd cable is running directly to my standard D* reciever upstairs.
Like i said, if i hook up the standard reciever it finds the signal right away. The Samsung unit does not detect the signal at all. Move it downstairs, remove one of the cables coming into the back of the HR10-250 and the Samsung is up and detecting immediately.
Very odd situation. There are 4 connections on the 3 lnb dish unit. I might try moving the cable to the other free connection but it just seems odd that one reciever see's it and the Samsung will not.

That's a good plan. Let us know what you discover. Agreed it's an odd problem.
Is the cable quite long or have a steel core center conductor? I wonder if perhaps the Samsung doesn't put out as much of a switching voltage and the drop in the cable might be borderline.Titon said:Thanks for the response.

You might try running setup on that receiver and see what the transponder signal levels for the various satellites are (if they are seen at all). Strange....
Yeah it is strange. Very strange.
I'm going to swap the cable this evening to the free connection on the LNB and see if that does the trick.
Just can't understand why it works on one cable and not another. We'll find out.
