Actually, NEITHER DBS provider is now required to carry the OTA ION affiliates any longer. Both providers dropped the majority of ION affiliates, in lieu of the national feed. In these same markets, D* is also simply remapping the national feed to the local OTA ch# in the local channels lineup. (eg: ch 38 in Chicago is NOT the local ION feed, but the remapped national ION feed)cts33fan said:One of the FCC's 'must carry' channels that makes no sense.
In the Tampa market, the ion affiliate (WXPX/66) also carries many of the Rays (and some Orlando Magic) games -- some of the games in HD (although not yet via DirecTV).ansky said:ION shows mainly infomercials and paid programming during the day, then shows a lot of older shows at night, like ER and Boston Legal reruns. They used to be the Pax network and are available OTA in many markets. www.iontelevision.com
NBC owned part of PAX a few years ago, but sold it back to Mr. Paxton. I doubt they made much money. Infomercials ruled just like now..kw2957 said:For all the guys who don't know, Ion Television is just the new name that they've been using for a few years. It used to be i. And before that it was PAX, which I'm sure everyone remembers.
ION is a unit of NBCPaul Secic said:NBC owned part of PAX a few years ago, but sold it back to Mr. Paxton. I doubt they made much money. Infomercials ruled just like now..
