Does it seem that an inordinate number of the "headlines" are Directv( http://www.dbstalk.com/ )? Someone else must be doing them now, who is a D* customer.

Most mods can create a headline ... D* has just made more headlines lately. :)

The big issues facing E* have been ongoing and handled in the threads in the forum.

DirecTV is doing their best to get their name in front of potential investors. News Corp is looking to unload their controlling share of DirecTV, so management is motivated to keep their name in circulation and the stock price up.

This could only be good news for every sat customer E* or D* to get Rupert out of the biz. This way there wouldn't be the problems E* has been having w/ the Fox nets & stations.

The problem isn't with Fox or News Corp. The problem is with the ownership of the affiliate stations. Some are demanding that all of the subchannels be carried as a condition. Others are making other demands which are apparently too onerous.

There's a thread over in the DirecTV forums about what ownership groups are holding out on DirecTV. The biggest offenders are Lin and Tribune.

There are those that have said that Tribune is being this way due to the fact they are selling off many of their properties. So they are not really inclined to negotiate w/anyone.
