First of all, thank you for this Forum!

I am thinking about switching from Comcast basic analog cable to Dish Network AT120 for several SD sets. I would save about $14/month for the first 10 months with Dish and $4/month for the remainder of the contract. I would get the advantages of more channels on all my sets.

The key is the picture quality. The quality on Comcast is OK, with a little ghosting on some channels and static on others. None of the channels I consistently watch are "unwatchable."

If I go to Dish Network and the quality is the same or better, then the switch is worthwhile. If the picture quality stinks, relative to Comcast, then it is worth paying the extra money and staying where I'm at.

Thoughts?

I know the SciFi channel on my DISH has better sound quality and picture quality than the SciFi Channel on my cable.

I can't speak for the difference in Comcast, but I can speak for the difference it's made with me leaving Cox Cable. There is just no comparison!!

I originally was on Cox and had their "High Def" service (and I use that term loosely). I switched from them to Direct and initlally just got the Direct's standard basic service, because being my first time on Satellite, I was sceptical. I kid you not when I say that Direct's basic service beat the hell out of Cox's High Def service! The picture was so much clearer, I couldn't believe it!

Now that Direct p**sed me off and I left them for Dish, I'm even MORE happy, as their picture, in my opinion, has trumped Direct and their customer service, from my experience, also beats the hell out of Direct!

So all-in-all...YES, the switch is worth it!!
