In the HD channel anticipation thread a number of folks are guessing that a bunch of RSN channels that are either new of part time currently and going full time will be added. Besides having to find room on the 99/103 satellites is there any room left on 101 to add the SD versions of these hoped for channels? Or would DIRECTV just put up a HD version and tell folks that want it need to upgrade to HD?

I would guess it would be HD only, or they would put the SD channel along with the HD channel on the KA sat. Of course, the PQ on 101 cant get any worse, so cram another one in there

well in mpeg4 local makers maybe they can get away with makeing them mpeg 4 HD only.

Would still have a problem with the nationwide sport packages like NBA LP, NHL CI, and MLB EI, which rely on RSN remaps to the 700+ ch. range.

Unless you carry all the packages in HD only.
