Yes, he can resume his dribble without violation. He's essentially picking up a loose ball after it's knoked away by the defender.

Okay, the offensive player is dribbleing and then picks up his dribble. The defensive player bodies up to the offensive player and applies pressure. The defensive player has his arms out in a defensive mode trying to deflect a pass because there is no open shot. The defensive player makes contact with the ball while swiping at it and the offensive player immediately drops the ball and the ball bounces once. Can the offensive player pick the ball up and dribble it without a violation?? I don't know the answer....I need a second opinion.
