if I understand everything right I run my OTA into the OTA input of swm-8 module and place one of these at each location where I want to extract the OTA signal.
is this correct?
thanks all.
Should work (haven't used that one myself).. might pick up one extra one since the SWM OTA input tends to be weak..

I planned on an extra just in case, thanks.
by weak do you mean signal loss or it fails?
with the diplexer I could inject right after my PI correct?
what ones do you use? I linked to that one just due to its description but if there are better ones I'm interested.
thanks

SWM OTA seems to have a lot of signal loss (possibly because of the 2 way split to FTM1/2)
you can use a diplexer to insert OTA pretty much anywhere along the run (most diplexers are powerpassing so even works between SWM and PI)
Eagle Aspen D2200 are what most of mine are.. The STS ones are made by the same company that makes the splitters that directv recommends..

any reason (other than less price) you used these? past experience maybe?
I've never used any before and had seen some diagrams using eagle splitters (never checked model) so when the big grey cat :) mentioned them I figured I'd try them.

Had some people recommend them and found a deal on eBay, ended up with 9 of them for $10 Shipped. Should work though I hope, I believe the key with SWM diplexing is to have diplexers that diplex OTA starting at 40 instead of 5 so that it does not mess with the control signals.

TTS has them for $2 which seems cheap, but you need a $10 min order and it is $10 shipping.

Housekamp, I think I am seeing this now.
the eagle aspen's came in and I have setup one 1 hr21 for testing. I am losing a lot of signal strength on this unit, average 30 % lower.
right now I have the OTA feed gong straight into th swm-8 module at the labeled fitting and then diplexing out (orientation is correct on diplexers) at each receiver.

current setup is 4 lines from au9s to swm8, ota to swm-8, swm-8 to PI and PI to sws-8 splitter.
now if I diplex the OTA in after the PI right before sws-8 splitter will that help? from what you said earlier this should but this is my first time (VirginDiplexer :) ) so I'd like to verify.
thanks

"It should", but that 8-way splitter is still going to knock the crap out of the level.
[2-way = 1/2, 4-way = 1/4, 8-way = 1/8, or 12.5%]

I wasn't sure how many I needed, but I should have ordered a 4 in retrospect. all my units are dvr's and a 4 would have left room for 1 more dvr.
I've been playing with it since posting and tried it as I posted, levels are now about 10% lower using diplexing.
I think they should be ok, lowest is 70 i(up from 50) n inclement weather now.
I'll keep a close "eye" on it (could not resist, sorry) and if is susceptible to issues I'll order a sws4 splitter.
