issues with my new hr 20

I just had my hr20 installed three days ago. For the most part , everything is ok, and the picture quality is very good. I'm in the Chicagoland area. Ihave had the following issues, and Iwas wondering if Earl or anyone else could give me some advice on how to handle them.
1. I recorded an episode of Law and Order off of my high def local. the recording came out great, but I was not able to use my fast forward button. The picture would just freeze up. I had to use the 30 second skip to advance the picture. It's the only time it's happened to me so far.
2. My Hd locals were working erratically. They were fine the first two days, but on the 3rd day they would pixelate and freeze, or the screen would just be all grey. If I went to any different station (besides my hd Locals), and came back the picture would be fine for a while. I would also lose sound periodically as well. This went on for a few hours. My locals are on Sat 103, and they all show signal strength in the 90'2s. I'm really concerned about this, since I watch these channels a lot.
3. My guide is taking forever to get filled. I was wondering how long it takes to fill the guide up to 14 days, or at least something close. After three days, my guide is only completely filled for 2 days. After that, it is very spotty.

Any advice or help on any of this would be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance

#1).. That was a problem with the 0xDC release... you should have received the 0xE3 release today, and that problem should e fixed.

#2)... How often is that happening? It can still be a signal issue... In general I have found the Chicago MPEG-4 locals to be very reliable over the last 8 months that I have been watching them (last 2 months recording)

#3)... 18-24 hours it will take to rebuild the entire guide.

3 days is way too long. I would try to reboot the box.
You can also re-do SAT setup, to force the guide data to be repopulated.

1. If the FF issue was prior to the release of last night (for us in the midwest), then it was a known problem. It should have been fixed from all reports on the new firmware 0xec.

2. May be an uplink issue and not an HR20 issue. MPEG-4 locals are having quite a few problems. Some may or may not be related to the HR20.

3. Hmmmm...mine fills a lot faster than that. How good is your signal? Also, it could be a problem on D*'s end. Sometimes they have problems at the origination that have nothing to do with the HR20. (Someone couldn't get the update to happen, and it turned out it was on D*'s end.
Thanks for the very quick responses. With regard to the fast forwarding issues, this happened last night (Friday). How would I know if I received the 0xe3 release or not?
The problem with locals occurred this afternoon with the variety of things happening in the earlier post. Am I correct that my locals are on Sat 103? Itested the signal strength and it was in the 90's on every other transponder. The others had zero, which I assumed were normal. At one point while watching the Michigan- Iowa game on Abc ch.7, the screen split into two, showing the same picture on each side. I'm getting sound dropouts ( I use component outputs), and grey screens. Iguess I'll have to continue to monitor htis problem
As for the guide speed, I thought it may take longer since it was building itself for the first time. Ithink my signal strength is fine. What does rebooting entail? Is that easier to doing setting up the satellite again? Would Ilose all the items that ihave already set up to record? I'm just not sure exactly to do either one of these things. Thanks again for the help.

I am 90% sure that Chicago is on the 99 SAT, not the 103... but.....

You probably got the update over night..
Menu->Setup->Settings->Info (hit select)

Rebooting ... hit the red button next to the access card.
To find your software version:
Select the following:
MENU
Help & Settings
Setup
Info & Test

A simple way in the future is to turn off the blue wheel of lights.
When you see the blue lights back on you have new software.

I was under the impression the 103 sat. carried my locals. I checked signal strength on the 99sat, and the 6 transponders read 59, 72, 76, 92, 69, and 75. These are much lower than any of the other satellite strengths I tested. Earl, since you are in the Chicagoland area, do these numbers seem low? It would seem to me that they are, especially with winter and bad weather approaching.
Also, when I reset my dvr, will I lose any saved data (series links etc.)? Thanks

Hmmm. Is Lyngast wrong?
