Hello, I was just wondering if anyone knew if there was a way to get the Jets games in Iowa without Sunday Ticket. With the way the games are programmed on the local affiliates, they don't know what they'll show until about 10 days out they said. They NY-Miami game is going to be on our local CBS affiliate here, but they don't know if they'll show any beyond that since this is largely a KC audience.

Are any of the games broadcast on the regional channels included in the sports package?

Also I am happy with my current locals, so I don't really want to "move".

You could hook up OTA (either through a DirecTV receiver that supports it or your TV if you have a tuner) and attempt to get adjacent locals. That will increase your chances of pulling in a different game, but I don't know how close you are to towers in a market that's not yours and I also don't know if they'll even put different games on.

I do this here in Baltimore - I can pull in DC and Baltimore locals, which increases my chances of getting the games I want to see without Sunday Ticket.

"Moving" isn't allowed by DirecTV and talking about it here isn't allowed either, so good thing you aren't considering it. ;)

nope.... Your only options are the obvious ones.

A) Hope you get a decent amount of games on your local affiliates
B) Subscribe to Sunday Ticket.
Or

C) Find someone who lives in the NY area (or gets Sunday Ticket) and have them hook up a slingbox for you to watch the games!

And, being in KC, it's going be a long shot to get a ton of Jets games. It will have to be

1) Jets & KC on different affiliates (FOx will broadcast some AFC games, when they play NFC teams)
2) CBS has a double header, and they play at different times
3) KC has a bye

being too lazy to actually look things up, I'd have to recommend Sunday Ticket.

Or rooting for a good team. But what do I know, I'm a Browns fan.

My wife is a Brett Favre fan, so that's why I'm interested in the Jets games. And we're trying to cut some costs to save some college money for our daughter and dropping ST seemed a good place to start. I actually do know a Jet's fan with Sunday Ticket. Maybe we'll just go to his house. :)

That would be the way to go as I doubt you will get many Jets games in Iowa.

For you this may be a good option for the future.
In week 1, Iowa seems split between Jets/Dolphins and Chiefs/Patriots.

are you close enough to the blue area..in the above link to map..
like the quad cities for example to pull in the game via OTA...
i use to live in burlington & got every chief game it seems via OTA
before DirecTv & ST...or Hannibal MO or Quincy IL too maybe

actually why don't you try for getting Sunday Ticket for free, with the premier package that everyone else is getting. for the intro price its less then a 100 dollars per month and you would get all the JETS games..

of course if you had East and West coast, you would get the Jets games as well.

I would call Directv and ask for the package.. and if you don't get it call again.. and again..
