I just got a new 722 installed to replace my 721. I know this is a leased receiver. How does the warranty work with this receiver? I assume I can purchase the monthly DHPP, but if I don't do that, how does the warranty work on this receiver if something goes wrong?

Unless you do something really stupid, they'll replace it for the cost of shipping to you. The DHPP pays those costs.
