I noticed that the DirecTV web site was off line for updates very early this morning. It came back online a little after 5:30 Eastern time this morning and I was then able to order the new DirecTV TiVo DVR. I am in Ohio, which is not one of the test markets, so I'm assuming it is available nationwide now. As a long time customer, it was $99.00 plus tax.

Same for me. It showed as $199 until I reentered my login & password, but changed to $99 after that. I did see a $5/mo TIVO charge and a $6/mo additional TV charge will be added.

Unfortunately for me, I already have one on the way from SolidSignal... it shipped yesterday and is due to arrive tomorrow. I have 2 old DirecTIVOs to replace, so was going to end up getting 2 eventually, but the SS one cost me $199. Guess I'll have to keep reminding myself "thank you to DirecTV for saving me $100 bucks on one of the units".

There is a $5 TiVo fee. That is over and above the $7 receiver fee and $10 DVR fee you would pay with any HD DVR. The DVR fee is one fee per household no matter how many DVRs.

The only difference between having a TiVo and the regular HDDVR is a $5 extra charge for the former.

The $20/month service fee doesn't sound right. How is that fee described/broken down?

The $5/month TiVo fee is well documented, however. I don't have to pay it because, back in 2002, I bought a "lifetime" thing with my original, SD DirecTiVo box. It has been pretty standard to pay an extra fee for TiVo one way or another. If you did retail TiVo for, say, a cable connection, it would be $19.95 a month to TiVo.

Well that's disappointing. I'm only seeing the $199 price in my shopping cart so I called. CSR claims that's the best she can do, plus $50 upgrade fee (which I don't see on website at all). She did offer $10 off my bill per month for 12 months, which net result is $29 more than others seem to be paying. Disappointing and strange. I don't have time to ask for manager, etc right now so I'll try again in the coming days. BTW, I've been a customer since 2000 in New Hampshire.

Perhaps you're not a long-term customer. I've been with DTV since 2004 and my cart says $199.

I don't recall every getting any freebies or discounts. I have a pretty basic package with 2 TVs with SD TIVO. I've just been waiting for HD TIVO to make the jump to HD. I'm not asking for any more than the $99 price I see others getting. One more call I guess...

...well today's offer was worse than yesterday. For a moment, I thought I had yesterday's deal.. Well, maybe not... Wow, this is a pain in the butt. Best Mary can do today is $50 credit plus $5/month for 6 months. Against the $199 price and $50 upgrade fee. Net cost $249 - 80 = $169, vs yesterday at $129. I think I'm going to wait a few weeks and let the dust settle.

I got a THR-22 from Solid and post-activation I don't see a $50 charge on the account. Just the TiVo and mirroring fees.

bodosom, I don't see the fee when I put in my cart on dtv.com. But 2 diff CSRs have quoted me verbally. Really shouldn't be this hard, esp for existing customers.

The new DTiVo showed up at $199 in my cart too. I've been with Directv longer than most (April 1995 :eek2 so long-time customer definitely applies to me. No amount of logging in changed the price.

I called Directv and was told that they would cut $50 off ($149). Five minutes of polite arm-twisting later and another $50 went away ($99). No $50 upgrade fee, no $20 service fee (whatever that is) and my new THR22 is on its way.

Do B-Band connectors come with this (they did with my R22) or do I need to call and make sure they ship some ?

Now the question is what do I do with the 2 B-Band converters Directv is sending that I told them I might need ?
