Just same old "issues" or a bad box??

Hey all -
Have had the HR20 for two months. I think my wife is finally ready to throw it out the window. I am starting to get used to it, but we are still having many technical issues with the box. So, is it time to chuck this one, call D* and ask for another or are we just experiencing the same issues everyone else is?

Mainly:
1) Dropping audio on HD local shows. Video still there but we will loose audio for 5 to 10 seconds on three or four different occasions during a tv show.

2) Not playing various TV shows. The show will be recorded. We go to My VOD, hit play and nothing. Just a black screen and a time bar but no show. We press FF/RW/ Skip ahead and nothing. The show just isn't there. Oddly enough though, when we delete it, our disk space increases. System resets do not help any of our problems.

Now, I have kept a good attitude and smiling face through all of these issues, but I am getting a bit tired of it all.

What do you all think? Tech issues or bad box??

Thanks!

I am in Georgia as well and in Directv's defense I talked directly with some of the local channels I was having the same problems with. A channel 46 engineer told me that since I complained they tracked down a "format encoder" that was not working correctly and has sent it back to the factory for repair. It was causing their signal to drop out and freeze as well as some audio problems. I exchanged some email with him for a while and he said that Directv is taking the OTA HD signals in Atlanta via Fiber optic cable across the country to L.A. before it is uplinked to satellite. I can see where many problems could and can occur in that distance. This new system is not only new to Directv but the local channel engineers as well. He wanted me to keep him updated with any problems I am having with Channel 46 HD. I owned a c-band Satellite business in the 80's and tracked a large number of customer complaints all the way back to the channels themselves. I think Directv is doing great considering all the programing they offer. If you are having problems with just a few local HD channels it could very well be in their equipment and they will never know it if we don't contact them directly. These channels want you as a viewer and want you to see all those wonderful commercial and CAMPAIGN adds in HD. Give DTV some time they certainly have the money and resources to fix their share of the problems and the HR20 HD DVR has great potential!
