Finally after doing a lot of analyzing and research I went ahead and signed up for Directv.

-I went with the AAA $10 off for 20 months deal.
-I enrolled for auto pay while on the phone with sales rep for $10 off each month and another $5 off for providing my email address.
-I got the HR 34 HMC DVR and paid the $99 deposit fee.I also got 3 more HD receivers.
-I went with the Premiere programming package and the $25 a month Filipino package for my mom.
-Free NFL Sunday Ticket. But I found out NFL ST Max would be an additional $147.
-Free install and I asked the sales rep about the old Directv dish that is still on my roof when I was renting out my house 4 years ago and the sales rep said the installers would take down the old dish and put in brand new hardware.

I still need to call tomorrow to get the RAF $10 off for 10 months additional discount.

Price wise I was told my first 3 months would be $88 a month and then months 4 to 12 it goes up to $123 a month. This billing price is still without the RAF $10 off a discount.

One question I have though is how long does it take Directv to process your order and for you to receive a confirmation email and website link Directv said they would send through email to enroll in all of my rebate discounts. Which they recommended I should take care of and do before my install date.I also checked my bank account online and didn't see that Directv has charged me yet for the DVR HMC and processing fee.

My install date is scheduled for 06-30 between 12PM to 4PM

I'm really excited and honestly the sales rep was nice & easy to talk. I'm just hoping that during my contract agreement with Directv that I don't experience the horror customer service reports that a lot of people have been posting online due to billing or technical issues with their service with Directv.

I'll also mention that I just left AT&T U-Verse for Directv and it was mainly for these reasons:

-Living in San Diego and not having Fox Sports San Diego to watch my Padres even though they are dreadful to watch right now:( AT&T U-Verse and to nobody's surprise Time Warner Cable are in a nasty contract dispute on how much FSSD should be charging each company to carry the new regional sports channel.
-Getting NFL Sunday Ticket For Free for the first year at least is great.I am a big football fan even though I don't support the Chargers or any particular team.I am a huge fantasy football player and play in at least 2 separate leagues each season.
-The #1 reason though is I am a die hard & life long Laker fan and I know that they will be launching a new regional TV network starting this season. The new regional TV network is with TWC and is suppose to be offered to TWC competitors and to people in LA, Socal, Orange County, San Diego, and I think even people in Las Vegas. I am actually happy with the new regional TV network is launching because now I won't need to waste $189 or $99 a year on either the TV version of NBA League Pass or NBA League Pass Broadband just to watch about 15 to 20 non nationally televised Laker road games. My fears were that AT&T U-Verse would get into another nasty contract dispute like what is going on right now with Fox Sports San Diego.
-Lastly price wise I'm actually paying less for more programming compared to what I had with AT&T U-Verse.

I'm not sure you will be able to get the refer-a-friend discount if you did not do it during the sign up. There are some pretty specific requirements on how to get that. Also not sure it can be combined with some of the other, comparable discounts that you received.

Please do try, but don't be surprised if you run into an issue with that.

Otherwise, sounds like you got a great deal. I hope (and expect) that you will enjoy the service. Welcome aboard.

Some have said as long as it's more than 24 hours before install, it can be added but stacking with AAA I think is an issue.

I agree, you need to do the RAF at sign up. At this point, if they will allow the RAF in addition to the AAA discount, you will have to cancel your initial order. Then start a new order, give them your friends account # to get that discount and possibly schedule a new install date. Happened with my sister and she was too lazy to do what I mentioned, so I never got the RAF discount.

You do realizethat your bill will go up because you will have to start paying for all the premium movie channels that you are getting free for three months. Then your bill will go up again on the 13th month because your promotion price will be over, and you will be paying regular price.

I think that you should already be able to go on D* website and follow the link to create your account, and apply for all the discounts so that you can get them starting with the first month. They should have given you that infor when you signed up. If you don't apply before the install dates, they will not start on the first month, and it will take longer for you to start receiving your discounts.

If you have problems call D* for help.

That increase in month 4 is because of the Premiums discount ending. You have to call to cancel them at that time. I remember when I did call to cancel them in the 4th month, they offered some discount to keep them and others have reported that also. Not as much as the new customer discount is for the first 3 months, but something is usually offered.

Hey guys here is my update less than 24 hours after I placed my order.

First off for some reason I did not receive a confirmation email. I had to call Directv to have them send me a email to get the verification email and so that I could create a user account so that I could view my account.

So I created my account and hit the rebate link and got another message saying my account had to be verified. I had to click on the send verification email at least 5 times before I finally got the damn email.

Next clicked on the rebate link and my rebates for AAA $25 & $5 showed up.Clicked on the submit link the first time and waited like 5 minutes before Directv website "Sorry unable to process request due to technical issues, please try again later". I logged out of my account and re logged back in, went into rebates link again and hit submit finally after another 5 minutes the rebates went through and I got a confirmation #.

Now for some better news:

I called 1-800-507-4045 which is the Directv RAF phone #.I went through the prompts and when I got to a live CSR the first question I asked was "Where are you located" CSR told me Manila Philippines.I just said I forgot on my order to add the RAF.CSR said no problem and I gave him my friends Directv account # and had me verify my friends last name.CSR rep though said it would take 6 to 8 weeks after the install date & after I activated service and that I should see the RAF $10 off for 10 months discounts kick in starting on my 2nd bill.

The key with getting the RAF discount stacked with AAA discount is calling 1-800-507-4045 and getting the right call center. Right off the bat when you get the CSR if they say Florida hang up and callback until your phone call gets routed to another call center and the CSR will add the RAF discount for you.

As great as the discounts I'm getting and better programming for more channels and free NFL ST.Directv is kind of already getting off to a bad start with me customer service wise.

I mean the process should have been a lot more smoother and the fact that I had to call back in just to get my order verification email sent was kind of scary.

That's amazing! You're the first person that I've ever heard of being able add it, w/o cancelling. And what she told you is correct, my RAF discount was on my second bill. I was able to stack AAA and RAF, but it was a few years ago, so I wasn't sure if they still did it. Now, you just have to wait and see if you actually get it. Good luck!

Actually there is a long thread on slickdeals.net forums a lot of other people have said they were able to stack RAF with AAA and also Costco's $120 gift card promo going on right now.But yeah when stacking RAF with AAA you just need to persistent about it in a nice speaking tone when asking for it with the Directv CSR and the big thing is calling into the right call center to get them to do it.

Luckily for me though on my 2nd call this morning I got the Directv CSR call center in Manila Philippines.
