Ordered my HR20 October 8th, but won't get installed until Nov 13th because they're back ordered on the HR20s. Crazy!!! Tried to escalate a couple of times, but no success.

It's going into my master bedroom. My current DTV receiver is using the original cable line that was installed when the house was first built, and unfortunately, it's on the inside wall. The HR20 has two tunners, and I want the two tunners working.

Is there a way to use the same line from the satellite, split the signal and give each tunner it's own signal? Or is running two lines direct from the satellite the only way?

The 2nd option will be a pain for the installer. I'm thinking that he would have to run it through my attic and somehow thread it through the inside wall. Are they obligated to do this? Will they charge extra?

Anyone had the same situation?

Thanks,
Laz

They will go through your external wall but probably not fish cables through your walls.
Hire someone who knows what they are doing and run more than just coax. It will make life easier and could add to resale value of your home

If you can't do it yourself, this is the best option. 2 lines to each DVR and one to each non-DVR.
Be sure they, or you, use solid copper conductor cable, and WATER RESISTENT or PROOF connectors. All these items are available on E-Bay very reasonably priced.

Good Luck!

By the way, I called Ironwood directly and got them to escalate my install by 2 weeks.
That may not be an option right now though because of the install popularity of the HR20. And the fact that many of them are having to be replaced because of hardware issues. In my case, I've had 3 since my install the last week of Sept.

I'm in the KC area also.......

Thanks for all the feedback/suggestions. I'm hoping it can be done.

BTW, any other KC HR20s out there? How are the KC Hi Def channels..are they looking pretty good via satellite? Was your wait as long as mine (ordered Oct 8..install Nov 13th).

The locals look good to us. All we can get OTA is 5 & 41. Too far out for the others, (west of Leavenworth).
So far, the only problems we've seen are 5 pixilates once and awhile for a few seconds and 9 can't decide to do 4:3 or 16:9 screens. Part of the show(s) will be in one or the other. Oh, we've seen this on 5 once.
We don't watch much anything on 41 or 4 to get a true sample. It definitely is taking patience going to the HR20 from our 4 yr. old Hughes TiVo unit. No missed recordings, resets or other problems during that time at all.
We've kept the TiVo hooked up for backup, and had to use it several times in the last month because of HR20 problems.

Good luck!

I had Ironwood come out (from D*) to do the install of the HR-20 (2 of them). The first one was installed the first week in October. The second one I called them directly after the order and came out the next day to bring it to me (retarded when you already have the wires done that why can't mail out the box)

HD Channels over the satellite are good. Had a problem with 4 the other night during Game 7 of the NLCS (looks fuzzy)... other than that the HD Locals look good.

Had Ironwood here doing some other work and I asked him about the 2nd line to my bedroom. He said it would have to go through the attic then fished in the wall. He said it's a customery job and would be $75 per hour. He's thinking 1-2 hours for the job.

Will Directv not cover this? Has anybody had it covered before? I'm thinking of them just getting into the attic and I'll run it through the attic and fish it through the wall. Will they let you do this? Any ideas or alternatives?
