I have a fairly new laptop (today is my 28th day of ownership) that frequently puts up double characters. It happens most often with the letters "ii" and "oo", but it happens with other keys also. It could be that I notice it most often with i and o because those are among the most used letters, but I don't recall having seen the "e" repeat, even though it is the most used letter, yet I recently had the "w", which is the key next to e, repeat.

Since I think I can exchange this unit within 30 days and I have just two days left to do that, I need to immediately discern whether this is a settings problem or a hardware problem. Here is what I have found in my control panel that I unsuccessfully tried to remedy this

Control panel:

(adjust your computer's settings)
Hardware and Sound View devices and printers

Devices: clicked picture of my laptop

Hardware Settings: clicked Keyboard settings

Here is what I saw for adjustments
Repeat delay Long.......short (4 choices, pointer's default setting near middle)
Repeat rate. Slow....fast (32 choices, default setting a little to right of center)

I have now tried all four extreme combinations: far left/far left, far right/far left, far left/far right, far right/far right, but the problem has not gone away.

I ordered a new keyboard from Hong Kong for $20, but it won't be here for a week. If I had ordered one domestically for faster delivery, it would coast $50 or so but I wasn't willing to spend that much on my gamble, so that keyboard will not arrive before my 30 day exchange window closes.

Is there some other keyboard repeat interval adjustment that I am overlooking?

I traded it in for an HP Pavilion g series, with a smaller screen, with me kicking in another $20.

I was worried because it was also intermittently losing its "function" key enabling. I like the feel of these keys on the HP better.
