Larger Remote Control?

1189 Views 14 Replies 10 Participants Last post by  GregLee
My elderly mom cannot see/utilize the HR20/21 Remote Control. I see on DTV's website a simplier remote with larger buttons. But, it's too small on their website to see the remote ... lol.

Does anyone have a picture of that danged remote that I can click on to actually be able to SEE it so I can see if I want to buy it for her?

TIA

Earl did a review of the big button remote, but alas it looks like he hosted the images on a domain that no longer exists:

Perhaps one of the mods could contact Earl to see if he still has the pictures?
The model # of the remote is RC32BB.

After a quick google search, http://images.google.com/images?hl=en&q=RC32BB&um=1&ie=UTF-8&sa=N&tab=wi, I found these:

unfortunately the only way to order one is to call
Thanks all. At least (even though its wider) it has fewer buttons, larger buttons, and spells out PLAY, PAUSE, etc. She cannot decipher the other remote at all at age 87. :)
the bottom picture was taken on the floor of my bedroom. :)

If used with any DIRECTV PLUS receivers, the Big Button remote has a fatal flaw ... no color buttons. There are ways around not having RED and GREEN, but I can't think of any way to mark a program as Keep Until I Delete without having a BLUE key, and there's no way to get to the playlist or TV options without a YELLOW key.
Go into the playlist
Choose the item
Second option is Keep...
Choose: Until I Delete
OK, so you can live without a BLUE key. :p

Still can't live without a YELLOW key. :)
Yes no color buttons, no active button,no advance button,no replay button. No RF only IR.It's a two handed remote, but it does have a nice blue backlight.:sure:

For some people that may be a good thing, keep them from messing up stuff..
A few months ago I got a Fobis "Weemote Sr." (through Amazon) for my mother, who is 88 and has very poor eyesight. It controls an H20 and a TV and just allows for On/Off, Mute, Volume, Channel Up/Down, and 5 preset channels. That's it. The 9 buttons are different colors and shapes. It's all she can cope with.

It cost me $31.45 including shipping. It works well, except that you have to be especially careful just where you point the remote. The On/Off button is supposed to control both the H20 and TV, but to prevent it from turning just one of them on or off, I disabled that button's control of the H20, so I can just leave the H20 on all the time.
