Those behind the EchoStar/Fox retransmission consent talks burned the midnight oil to hammer out a deal, wrapping up their negotiations at around midnight Pacific Time/3 a.m. Eastern Time Tuesday.

The final agreement covers 21 owned-and-operated Fox stations. Also included are two UPN stations and one independent station. The deal came just before a deadline for a new retrans contract that needed to be signed by the companies, given that the Fox stations could've been taken off EchoStar's DISH Network service at midnight Monday.

In early June, EchoStar CEO Charlie Ergen told his customers that the retransmission consent negotiations were taking place, and there was a possibility that the stations could be lost after the July 1 deadline.

Cities tied to the retransmission consent deal between the two companies include Atlanta, Austin, Birmingham, Boston, Chicago, Cleveland, Dallas, Denver, Detroit, Houston, Kansas City, Los Angeles, New York City, Philadelphia, Phoenix, Salt Lake City, St. Louis, Tampa Bay and Washington, D.C.

No other details about the agreement were released by the companies.
